A Letter From Kenneth Haggard
Before I became a trial lawyer, I was an Army "brat" who lived on bases all over the world. One of the places where my father was stationed was Fort Campbell near Hopkinsville, Kentucky. After I obtained my law degree and joined a law firm here, my intention was to get a couple of years of experience under my belt and move on. That was 25 years ago.
I became a partner at the firm where I worked and then opened my own practice. My wife and I had children, who went into the Christian County school system. Soon a quarter century had passed and I was still here.
My clients often tell me I am not like any other lawyer they've ever known and I take that as a compliment. Many lawyers will settle for anything they can get, whether that is a plea bargain in a criminal defense case or a quick settlement in a personal injury case. My approach is to go to court and whip the other side if they are not reasonable. I am the lawyer people go to if they have a problem with an arrogant or powerful person because I don't mind rocking the boat, if need be.
I have irritated a few judges over the years. A few have had to calm me down after I aggressively went after a witness on the stand. However, everything I have done over the past 25 years has been to protect my clients. I fight very hard for my clients and am willing to take their case to the mat.
Over the years, my clients have tended to become my friends. They bring me pies, knittings and other gifts and ask my advice about things that have nothing to do with the practice of law. Many have sent me letters of appreciation. Past clients send their children and relatives to me when they have legal problems.
As an Army "brat", I still have a warm spot in my heart for the men and women of our armed services. I often represent service members from Fort Campbell who suffer a personal injury in an accident or who face criminal charges. I'd like to help you if you need me.
Sincerely,
Attorney Kenneth Haggard
